Nine months ago, President Obama sent small businesses a life line: the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Since then, the SBA has supported more than 33,000... [Read the full story]

Net Neutrality Sounds Good in Theory Only
October 8, 2009 · Leave a Comment
The new FCC Chairman, Julius Genchowski, is pushing hard for changes that will affect the internet forever. He recently introduced ”net neutrality rules”, that would prohibit Internet service providers like AT&T, Verizon, Comcast and Time Warner from acting as gatekeepers of content on the Web. Put another way it would force these broadband providers, private companies, to treat all internet traffic the same and allow it to flow freely through their networks. Sounds great right? I have two problems with this: I always reject the federal government intruding on private companies... [Read the full story]

The Touchtable Demonstration

The PBS Video below is a demonstration of a TouchTable. Very cool technology and worth watching for that alone, but I was impressed with the portion showing clear evidence that Iran is definitely not coming clean about their nuclear programs. About the TouchTable: TouchTable is an easy to use display device that detects the location and movement of users’ hands on its surface to dynamically change a projected image in real-time. Moving a hand across the surface pans the display, two fingers moving apart zooms it out, and two fingers moving together zooms it in. This simple interface allows users... [Read the full story]

The Best Online Dating Site
June 24, 2009 · Leave a Comment
Having been married for over a quarter century now (you may recall seeing Walter Cronkite’s special report about us getting married before we were teenagers…) I haven’t found the need to throw my heart out there in a digital format in the hopes that I might find someone worth getting to know better. But, if I were single and looking for friendship, or perhaps love, I think I’d try Plenty of Fish. Plenty of Fish is free. That makes it an attractive option as you can kick the tires and if you’re smart enough to be even slightly cautious with your personal details it... [Read the full story]
